Funeral professionals, Good Grief, Why are they running??
On Saturday 7th Dec 2019, Ed Brunskill joined a group of local funeral professionals, their friends, family and bereaved people and visitors to the Mortlake crematorium - all who ran were remembering people they loved who had died. Each got up early and made their way to Richmond parkrun for the 9am start, this event had been organised by Natasha Bradshaw and her amazing team, bringing together, amongst others, Funeral Directors, Cemetery Managers, Crematorium Superintendents, Funeral Ceremony Celebrants and the majority of the team from Mortlake, with varying running abilities between them to tackle the hilly 5K Course.
The event had been planned to raise much needed funds for the wonderful bereavement charity the 'Good Grief Trust', somewhat unique in its approach in this area, as the Trust is run by the bereaved for the bereaved, and as a culmination of National Grief Awareness week 2-8 Dec 2019.
A fantastic effort was put in by this dream team, despite the mud, puddles, the cold winters morning and some punishing hills, everyone completed the course including some first timers, at the last count they had well exceeded the £500 target. Linda Magistris was their to cheer everyone on at the finish line. Linda the founder whose vision it was to start the Good Grief Trust following her own personal bereavement to ensure that help and support is available so those in need can start to move forward with their lives. You can find out more about the approach they take and the work they do at www.thegoodgrieftrust.org along with lots of helpful information and some numbers for those in need of immediate help who are struggling with grief!
